As many of you know, we are in the process of starting a mentorship program and have had a record number of signups with over 350 mentees (stay tuned, launch is imminent). The reason I am reaching out to you today is because I am getting a lot of questions about the program, and thought it would be easier for me to send all of you the answers.
Is this program for women only? Everyone is welcome.
Do I need to be a quantum expert to be part of this program? No. We have people at all levels of expertise in the program, from students to scientists, as well as business people with varying levels of expertise. Our goal is to match you with mentors to help you reach your career or learning goals.
I’d like to mentor someone, what skills do I need to mentor? We encourage you to sign up as a mentor, and share your life experiences with a mentee. A lot of people are asking me if they have enough experience to be a mentor, and we need people at all stages of their career to be mentors. Maybe you have just finished your degree, or just joined a company, or finished a post-doc — all of these are valuable experiences and you have that to share with your mentee.
How much time does it take to be a mentor or mentee? Just a couple hours a month. Sometimes I worry that I am too busy for activities like this, but I always find that I get so much out of them that it is worth it for me to find the time in my schedule. This is extremely rewarding and also a great way to learn about yourself.
Please share this program in your network. I am still getting notes from people saying they just heard about this program and they want to join. Do me a favor and share this note with three of your friends.
Call for mentors!
Please sign up as a mentor…and join this great program.
